Makena and Friends: Welcome to Makena and Friends

Makena and Friends: Welcome to Makena and Friends

Welcome to Makena and Friends

Glad you stopped by.I'm Makena,a lovable, sweet ,adorable and ,yes, very spoiled Bichon Frise.

My Mom, Maloa, decided to give this blogging a try.

So, here we are.We welcome other puppy (and all other critter)loving friends to visit with their thought, ideas, tips ,feelings, well, you get it.A place to share.

I have been with my "mom" Maloa for a little over 3 years now.We really saved each other.Maloa's husband had passed away, and her little cocker spaniel passed away soon after. She was grieving and so very sad.Except for Gloria(a parakeet she and husband found at a gas station) she was all alone.

One day Maloa went to a pet store for bird seed, and there I was.I caught her eye, and she pretended not to see me.I watched her as she stood behind a shelf and checked me out.I looked at her with my charming little face . Maloa came over to me.I jumped up and down, turned around in circles and hopped into her arms.I knew once I was in her arms, I was going home with her.I was 4 months old and just tooo cute. While taking care of the paperwork Maloa noticed that we had something in common(besides the instant love). We share the same birthday! It must have been fate that brought us together.Whatever it was, we are so happy to be in each others lives.Maloa gave me the name Makena , like the beautiful beach on Maui.(Maloa was born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii)

We are always on the go.I love to visit people.I go once or twice a week to visit my friends.Today, I am visiting Dick and Judy, and watching( on t.v) their friend Danica Patrick, try her best to win an Indy race at Belle Isle, Mi. Dick had a stroke some years ago. I visit with him, and keep him company. He is so sweet to me.I make him smile, and I love sitting with him.Not to mention, they have a special drawer in the kitchen with treats, just for me!Yippee!Sometimes I even do tricks!

I have gone to visit patients and nurses in Hospice wards also.We were sad to hear that one of the Hospice wards we visited has been closed. We will try to locate the staff and continue to keep in touch .They need comfort as much as the patients and their families do.

Gosh, I've been talking a while.I have a lot to say.We welcome your stories too.
Hope you stop by and visit. We certainly look forward to meeting you.

Our warmest Aloha,
Makena and Maloa
